Childrens’ Issues and Custody Agreements

The laws place a lot of importance on the rights of children. When families separate, it is essential to outline and put agreements in place for important issues, such as who children will live with, division of time amongst family members (i.e. separated parents and grandparents), and who will make important decisions in terms of their health, education and religion.

As this will likely already be a time of heightened stress, we recommend taking proceedings to the court be a last resort. Rather, our team of experienced family lawyers will help you navigate mediation processes to ensure the best outcomes for the children and all parties involved. If mediation is not successful, we can of course also assist with taking proceedings to the court if required, where Orders will be put in place.

Any agreements or Orders will apply until the children reaches the age of 18, so it is important to seek experienced legal advice before any agreements are made to ensure terms are clear and understood by all involved parties.

A properly considered and drafted agreement will give all involved peace of mind and clarity, though the process can be very stressful and technical so we recommend seeking legal support as soon as possible. Please get in touch today for your free initial consultation.
